The Klingon Empire was formed about 1,500 years ago by 'Kahless the Unforgettable', when he reunited the Klingon people after killing the tyrant 'Molor'
SECOND KLINGON DYNASTY
Emperor Reclaw ruled the Empire until he and his family were assasinated by General K'Trelan
DARK TIME
After the death of Reclaw there was a 10 year period during which the Klingon people tried to install an elected council to rule the Empire.
THIRD KLINGON DYNASTY
At the end of the Dark Time a new Imperial family took control of the Empire by assuming the names and titles of Reclaw's family to create the illusion of an unbroken bloodline.
SECOND EMPIRE
The High Council were in control. In a bid to expand the Empire, a fleet of ships were sent to conquer Breen Space by Chancellor Mow'ga. The Fleet never returned.
Qo'noS then entered into a brief alliance with the Romulan Star Empire which resulted in the sharing of military technology and space craft designs, providing the Romulans with Klingon battle cruisers and the Klingons with cloaking technology.
After the disaster on 'Praxis' Chancellor Gorkon started negotiations with the UFP to form an alliance. His daughter 'Azetbur' concluded these negotiations after Gorkon was assassinated. The alliance was called the "Khitomer Accords"
The Chancellor of the Klingon High Council then changed many times:
K'mpec ~ had the longest reign as Chancellor of the High Council in Klingon History. He was murdered by political rival Duras.
Gowron ~ succeeded K'mpec as Chancellor. During this time the empire had not had an Emperor for many generations until the clerics on 'Boreth' used the blood of Kahless to create a clone. This 'Kahless' was installed as the Ceremonial Emperor of the Klingon Empire in a bid to stop the civil war and once again unite the Klingon people and to gain support for Gowron.
However Gowron's handling of the Empire during the war with the Dominion was a disaster and Worf challenged his right to rule the High Council. Gowron was killed by Worf in a Bat'leth fight for Honour.
Martok ~ Although Worf had earned the right to lead the High Council by defeating Gowron in a battle of honour, he stepped aside to allow Martok to ascend to the Chancellorship.
Klingon Culture
The Klingon way of life is one of Duty and Honour.
Klingons follow strict codes of honour and discipline.
The greatest disgrace for a Klingon is to be stripped of his Name and have no Honour.
Klingons will serve their own House or pledge their loyalty to a house of greater nobility. They will defend the honour of that house with their lives.
Klingons are proud of their heritage and history it told in the form of stories and songs. The history and culture of Qo'noS has been compared to the Ancient Samurai of Japan on Earth. They too were proud and honourable, bound by the warriors' code.
Klingon Uniforms are not all the same. Here are shown a few of the different uniforms worn by warriors.
Klingon Weaponary
Klingons are by nature a Warrior race. This is why they take pride in their weaponary and place Honour above all else. To die in battle is a Klingons' greatest honour. Hand to hand combat is prefered but all warriors are skilled in the use of disruptors.
Here are just a few favourite Klingon Weapons.
Klingon Battleship Design
Klingon Battleship design is simple and funtional but most importantly powerful.
Klingon Battleships are just that, ships for battle. Warriors do not have comfortable cabins like the Federation, they have barracks with sleeping shelves. All Klingons are expected serve on a battleship and face the enemy in the name of the Empire.
The SAS Skorpion is shown here to scale with other Klingon Ships.
The death of an Enemy offers more satisfaction, if the death comes Slowly, and by your own Hand !
